Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for coordinating statewide inter- and intra-departmental drinking water and water well construction activities between County Health Departments, the Department of Environmental Protection, the five Water Management Districts, and other state, local, and federal agencies. It is furthermore responsible for exercising independent judgement in the formulation of policies and procedures for the implementation of the Department’s responsibilities in public and private drinking water.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of rules, policies and best practices pertaining to public and private drinking water systems
  • Knowledge of management principles
  • Knowledge of the principles of physical or natural sciences
  • Problem solving skills
  • Written and verbal communications skills
  • The ability to determine work priorities
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • The ability to apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to environmental programs
  • The ability to formulate policies and procedures
  • The ability to work independently

 

Qualifications:

Minimum –

  • Six years’ experience in the fields of environmental or natural sciences or environmental health. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in environmental or natural sciences can substitute for four years of the required experience.

Preferred –

  • Two years’ experience in drinking water or water well regulation or operation.
  • A Registered Sanitarian/Registered Environmental Health Professional designation from the National Environmental Health Association or a state affiliate.
