Our Organization and Mission:

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is the state’s lead agency for environmental management and stewardship - protecting our air, water and land. The vision of DEP is to create strong community partnerships, safeguard Florida’s natural resources and enhance its ecosystem.

The Work You Will Do:

This is specialized professional work in the Water Compliance Enforcement Program. This position provides process monitoring and technical assistance for the electronic submission of discharge monitoring reports (DMRs) to help ensure that wastewater and stormwater facilities can report in a manner consistent with permitting requirements. This position also coordinates with the Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) to identify, implement and test system enhancement, which improves efficiency and accuracy of electronically reported data.

The Difference You Will Make:

Water and natural resources are the foundation of Florida’s communities, economy, and way of life. The Division of Water Resource Management (DWRM) is responsible for implementing state laws providing for the protection of the quality of Florida’s drinking water, ground water, rivers, lakes, estuaries and wetlands; and the reclamation of mined lands.

DWRM is comprised of several programs that perform water facilities regulation, and operational support services and functions. The division also serves as Florida’s central point of contact for federally delegated/assumed water programs and has regulatory oversight of certain functions of water and wastewater facilities throughout Florida. We work toward safeguarding Florida’s water resources and enhancing natural systems through partnering with local communities, and providing a more certain, consistent and effective regulatory process. Our goal is to enhance both the quality and available quantity of water needed by the state’s residents, visitors, and industries, while also providing protection of the state’s wetlands, other surface waters, and ground waters today and for generations to come.

How You Will Grow:

DEP encourages its leaders to constantly innovate and seek efficiencies. We believe in supporting and encouraging you as you take on important and often complex projects while offering you the opportunity to gain valuable experience quickly.

Where You Will Work:

Tallahassee - Tallahassee, Florida’s Capitol City, lined with rolling hills, oak trees, and canopied roads combines old world charm with a modern pace of life. Home to two major universities as well as state government, Tallahassee is a mid-sized city in the heart of Florida’s Big Bend.
