Position Overview and Responsibilities:

This is an intermediate-level Environmental Specialist III position in the Division of Air Resource Management's Office Compliance Assurance Section (CAS) that reports directly to the Environmental Administrator. The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as the emissions inventory coordinator and provide support to the Division’s compliance and enforcement functions including assisting with statewide regulatory oversight, the collection and management of emissions and compliance data, and ensuring data management and federal reporting requirements are met.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of general environmental principles

Knowledge of federal and state air regulations

Knowledge of compliance and enforcement procedures

Knowledge of computer systems and programs

Skilled in analyzing/interpreting engineering data

Skilled in problem solving and conflict resolution

Skilled in preparing technical reports using a personal computer including Microsoft Office word processing

Skilled in spreadsheet development, and graphics presentation software

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Ability to independently plan, organize, coordinate, and complete work assignments in a timely manner

Ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules, policies, and procedures in a fair and responsible manner

Ability to successfully interact with applicants, public, and internal personnel in a tactful and courteous manner

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Ability to work on and lead project teams staffed with members from multiple key industry groups

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Travel on state business 
  • Four years of verifiable related experience in the areas of Natural or Physical Science, or Engineering. Post-secondary education from an accredited college or university with a major in Natural or Physical Science, or Engineering may be used as an alternative for required four years of experience on a year-for-year basis.

 

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Two or more additional years of verifiable related experience in the areas of Natural or Physical Science, or Engineering

 

 

Pay:

Salary Range Annually $61,000.00 - $65,000.00 (Commensurate based on experience)
