MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of experience in environmental protection, regulation, or health; one of the physical or natural sciences; or engineering; or
A high school diploma or its equivalent and one and a half (1.5) years of experience as an Environmental Specialist I or higher with the State of Florida; or
A bachelor's degree (4 years) or higher from an accredited college and six (6) months of experience in environmental protection, regulation, or health; one of the physical or natural sciences; or engineering.
Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.

The incumbent of this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, FAC.

JOB DUTIES:
Receive complaints regarding, and reports of, alleged violations of Chapters 388, 482, 487, 576, 578, and 580, F.S., and associated rules. Prepare work requests and forward to the field staff to initiate investigations. Research related information and case files and provide background information as necessary to support the work request. Prepare re-inspection requests and forward to the field staff. Perform these activities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Provide technical assistance and support to the field staff concerning pesticide laws and regulations. Research state and federal databases and files to support information requests. Assist in administration of the field aspects of the pesticide compliance program. Exercise professional judgment in evaluating complex issues related to pesticide enforcement responsibilities, interpreting laws and regulations for enforcement purposes, and proposing revisions in state and federal pesticide laws and regulations. Prepare proposed enforcement policy, recommendations for procedural changes, program implementation strategies, priority setting schemes, statute and rule changes. Provide guidance and information to the regulated community concerning compliance with state and federal pesticide laws and regulations.
Update, transmit, retrieve and change information to records in assigned databases. Maintain knowledge of state and federal regulations. Read and interpret pesticide labels, regulations and legal descriptions. Regularly review current versions of Chapters 482 and 487, F.S., and rules 5E-2, 5E-9 and 5E-14, F.A.C. Manage databases for storage and retrieval of information relative to referrals, reinspections, and other activities of the field staff. Collaborate with supervisory staff to establish systematic inspection schedules based on program objectives, priorities, and resources. Produce periodic printouts of establishments to be inspected, pending referrals, etc., for the field staff.
Assist with monitoring, responding to, and referring requests to division staff and other divisions from AES Cares. Perform these activities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
