This is a responsible executive nursing position which performs professional, supervisory and administrative working developing and implementing, monitoring and evaluating Children's Medical Services (CMS), Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs programs. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Bureau Chief of CMS Specialty Programs.

 

This individual will be responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervises nursing and administrative tasks and responsibilities of programs assigned to the Specialty Programs Bureau.     
  • Supervises and participates in the development and preparation of planning materials and data for annual reports and special reports.  Participates in the preparation of grant proposals and other material for procurement of funds for service expansion for programs in the unit.       
  • Supervises and participates in the development of program specific components of the CMS budget, budget allocation, and amendments, and on-going budget functions related to supervised programs.     
  • Supervises the development, review, and revision of program rules, manuals, policies, and procedures for supervised programs.  Supervises and assists in the analysis of proposed legislation and rules for impact on supervised programs and assists in the development of proposals for statutory/rule changes deemed necessary to improve service delivery.     
  • Provides nursing and administrative consultation and technical assistance to departmental staff, provider staff, and the public regarding program information and issues.  Responds to oral and written requests for programmatic information.     
  • Supervises and participates in quality management reviews, by on-site evaluations and analysis of reports, of program services and compliance with rules and standards for supervised programs.  Oversees the development and updating of standards for services delivery and health care outcomes.     
  • Supervises the preparation of programmatic component of contracts and renewals assigned to the unit.     
  • Supervises and facilitates the development and implementation of new CMS programs assigned to the unit.     
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer proficient.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum - State of Florida Registered Nurse license. Valid Florida driver's license.

Preferred - Pediatric Nursing, supervisory, quality improvement, contract or program management.

Preferred Years of Experience - 8 - 10
