Job Description

This position serves as Florida Department of Education’s Data Manager.  The employee will supervise staff; communicating with, motivating, providing or coordinating training and direct the work of his/her subordinates around the following activities:

•    Developing standards of operation when handling and archiving data.
•    IT Asset cataloging,
•    Lead Data Classification Team
•    Data cataloging;
•    Maintaining data management plans and instructions for operating complex business systems.
•    Overseeing the integration of new technologies and initiatives into data standards and structures.
•    Evaluating the design, selection, and implementation of database changes by comparing them with business requirements and design documents.
•    Assessing system performance and making recommendations for hardware, software, and data storage improvements.
•    Ensuring data and information security by integrating and upholding digital security systems.
•    Ability to analyze, interpret, and organize large amounts of data.
•    Excellent communication skills to translate complex problems using non-technical terms.
•    In-depth understanding of modern database and information technologies.
•    Excellent math, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
•    Excellent time management skills and the ability to work towards meeting multiple deadlines simultaneously.
•    Providing training and guidance to end-users on data management best practices.
•    Develop and implement data retention Plan.
•    Project Management oversight.

Leave Information

  • Annual Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment. 
  • Sick Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions shall be credited with 104 hours of sick leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer. You will be required to provide your Social Security Number to conduct required verifications.
