This advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at Central Office in the Bureau of Workforce Development.
Salary: $106,822.82 - $112,730.54 Annual Range
SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent in this position is expected to become familiar in the department’s programming initiatives; display leadership skills that demonstrate the department’s commitment to programming efforts for inmates while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Responsible for coordinating with the Department of Education and other contracts regarding all CTE program offerings, industry certifications, and credentials.
- Directs and supervises employees, monitoring daily activities. Plans workloads, workflows, deadlines, and time utilization. Evaluates employee performance and develops performance improvement plans as necessary. Collects and prepares recommendations for disciplinary action against employees who have violated departmental rules, policies, or procedures. Ensures staff compliance with mandatory training requirements. Reviews and approves leave requests to maintain adequate office and workload coverage. Reviews and approves travel vouchers. Conducts interviews and makes hiring recommendations.
- Responsible for correctional education programming, including CTE, workforce development, and other core reentry programs. This position provides direction, management, policy and procedural review, development, and implementation for program areas. It also directs promotional activities related to initiatives and program implementation.
- Supervises and coordinates the development, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation of all CTE programs, including related grant programs.
- Supervises and coordinates the development, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation of statutorily mandated programs and other domain programming for the inmate population.
- Manages program and quality assurance staff who conduct program reviews and site visits at facilities offering correctional education, reentry, and other domain programming for inmates.
- Supervises the establishment of business partnerships with various applied CTE programs and coordinates business partnerships to support job placement.
- Supervises the development of plans for program modifications in correctional education and other assigned domain programming, assesses available resources, and ensures resources are allocated within institutions to meet programming needs for inmates.
- Represents the Department at meetings regarding program matters under the Bureau’s responsibility.
- Works closely with other agencies, CareerSource, REDI, FREDA, Florida Commerce, and the Florida Chamber in relation to CTE programming.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess five (5) years of experience working with Career and Technical Education (CTE) and/or Workforce Development.
- Must possess five (5) years of experience supervising staff.
- Must possess experience working with economic development organizations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Nine (9) years of administrative experience. Postsecondary experience may substitute for this experience on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years.
