Crime Intelligence Analyst II – 70034940 - Anticipated Vacancy

 

This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, Florida

 

Appointment Rate: $44,938.66 Annually

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent in this position compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information and intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources.  Additionally, the incumbent will request, receive, analyze, and document information of a criminal nature. This position will be located and work in the Office of the Inspector General’s Analyst Unit.

The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code.

The incumbent in this position is expected to become familiar in the department’s reentry initiatives; display leadership skills that demonstrate the department’s commitment to reentry efforts for offenders while maintaining a professional demeanor.

  • Analyzes data from digital extractions for criminal activity and relates that information to previously identified criminal activity and/or individuals.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information and criminal intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources, and promotes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies.
  • Relate those patterns to crimes that are concurrently being investigated and deliver that information to the Unit Supervisor.
  • Coordinates inter-state and intra-state information pertaining to criminal activity and criminal movement and exercises independent judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated.
  • Directly supports and assists Inspector General staff in the compilation and analysis of confidential information in highly sophisticated and complex organized criminal investigations, and recommends specific investigative directions based upon such information.
  • Evaluates and analyzes criminal intelligence information to predict the capabilities, intentions, and vulnerabilities of organized criminal groups of a highly sophisticated and complex nature and makes recommendations for investigative strategies.
  • Prepares oral briefings, written reports, and recommendations in the form of intelligence assessments and detailed factual reports used by agency management and field supervisors to evaluate investigative priorities and case development.
  • Prepares for and assists in providing in-service training to Inspector General staff.
  • Utilizes the operation of audio visual and cell data training aides.
  • Identify crime patterns by geographic area (Institutions), Regions, time of day, day of week, modus operandi, and other statistical probabilities.
  • Requests and receives information of a confidential nature.
  • Utilizes computer databases, electronic spreadsheets, geographic information systems (GIS) applications, desktop publishing, word processing, Inspector General Intelligence and Investigative System (IGIIS), and statistical applications to manipulate, analyze and present crime data.
  • Provide tactical case support to all areas of the Inspector General’s Office.
  • Produce reports and bulletins detailing information as it pertains to officer safety concerns.
  • Provides accurate and professional communication both written and verbally.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and through written reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge of intelligence processes.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR an Associate’s degree and two (2) years of professional experience in crime analysis, criminal intelligence, military intelligence, investigations, or evaluation and reporting of information OR a Highschool diploma and five (5) years of professional experience in crime analysis, criminal intelligence, military intelligence, investigations, or evaluation and reporting of information.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree in a criminal science discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Bilingual abilities
  • Certified Law Enforcement Analyst
