This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the Bureau of Security Operations.

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position serves in a mission critical role to ensure public safety as the initial point of contact in the Department’s Emergency Action Center (EAC), an internal call center for Institutions Statewide to report ongoing incidents in real time, operating 24 hour a day 7 days a week (weekends and Holidays). These positions operate the call center over a three-shift period operating 1st shift 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 am, 2nd shift 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 3rd shift 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
- Assist field staff via phone support to obtain basic facts and pertinent data and document all incoming and outgoing communications relating to the incident(s) in the EAC internal database. Notify appropriate staff, as required by procedure, of unusual events or emergency situations.
- Assists field staff via phone support in obtaining sentence information or criminal history data relating to a particular inmate or inmates.
- Responsible for monitoring the operation of the NCIC/FCIC terminal and remote printer on an hourly basis during the shift. Responds immediately to all incoming NCIC/FCIC communications and take further action as deemed appropriate.
- Confirming warrants, entering warrants into the NCIC/FCIC system, running Level I background checks on new employees, contractors and others as directed. Processing other NCIC/FCIC transactions as requested (i.e. running driver’s license, firearms etc.) Confirm warrant hits via NCIC/FCIC terminal on behalf of the Florida Commission on Offender Review after their normal business hours 8-5 and weekends
- Serves as a liaison with local, state, and national criminal justice representatives and law enforcement agencies inquiring on matters regarding Department by means of telephone, NCIC/FCIC terminal, and written correspondence. Respond to requests, ensuring confidentiality of inmate information is observed. Confirm status of offenders or fugitives when appropriate.
- Responsible for maintaining logs on all criminal justice data disseminated and status of all requests for information as required by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
- Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Minimum of six (6) month’s work experience providing interpersonal and customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current NCIC/FCIC certification or prior certification.
- Experience working in a high-volume Help Desk or Service Desk environment.
- Experience with computers and/or operating a multi-line telephone.
- Criminal justice experience (security, corrections, or law enforcement).
