SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent in this position is expected to become familiar in the department’s reentry initiatives; display leadership skills that demonstrate the department’s commitment to reentry efforts for offenders while maintaining a professional demeanor.  The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code.

 

  • This position will be responsible for providing remote support for computer systems at multiple sites, including major institutions, probation & parole offices, community facilities, regional offices, and other Department related sites.
  • Provide phone support to the Department’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) user with mainframe and LAN (local area network) password resets. Help the user learn how to log onto the mainframe or their FDC assigned computer and mobile devices. Document all support activities and resolutions thoroughly in the Agency’s OIT ticketing system.
  • Monitor the status of the Department's IBM Mainframe, servers, and network for system problems that may arise. Notify the proper sections for immediate problem resolution, whether within the OIT department or a third-party vendor. Work in combination with the technicians until the problem is resolved.
  • Assist users by phone or remote support with problems with their personal FDC-assigned computer, mobile devices, web-based applications, Microsoft Operating systems such as Windows 11, and Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, and Outlook. Document all support activities and resolutions thoroughly in the Agency’s OIT ticketing system. 
  • Coordinates with other Data Processing areas of Corrections and other agencies to solve any Data Processing issues.
  • Responsible for support of a statewide, wide area, or distributed systems network of computer equipment (software), including post-installation support and troubleshooting.
  • Support network computers, including setting up and loading software, and perform the technical role of system manager, including backup, recovery, and troubleshooting functions.
  • Responsible for assisting with providing support for VoIP Phones and mobile devices.
  • Responsible for support of Education and Re-Entry Programs.
  • Assist with maintaining the procedure documentation for the helpdesk. This includes writing, reviewing, distributing, and running reports from the Agency’s OIT ticketing system as needed.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network, hardware, and software problems affecting desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other peripherals. Configure and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, VPN, and network connectivity issues.
  • Provide comprehensive training and guidance to end-users on IT troubleshooting and best practices.
  • Participate actively in IT projects such as Microsoft system migrations, upgrades, and deployments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two (2) years of experience providing information technology support.
  • Able to work on call, including during times of Emergencies or Disasters.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in a high-volume call center in a Help Desk or Service Desk environment.
  • Experience working with an IT Service Management ticketing system.
  • Experience with VoIP Systems.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation.
