Government Operations Consultant I – 70900522

 

This advertisement is to fill an OPS position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL reporting to the Bureau of Finance & Accounting.

 

Salary Rate: $22 per hour

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Bureau of Finance & Accounting is seeking a team member to perform professional level work in tracking and recovering natural disaster costs. This position is responsible for the following:

  • Support the Disaster Recovery team with all accounting and tracking needs.
  • Perform accounting analysis as needed throughout the project.
  • Gather, audit, and reconcile vendor invoice documents utilizing Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR), Budget and Accounting Reporting System (BARS), My Florida Market Place (MFMP) and other applicable sources daily.
  • Compile and review source documents, to ensure compliance with all related statutes, rules, and requirements to support cost incurred and/or cost estimates.
  • Analyze and evaluate complex financial data.
  • Convert any hard copy sheets into Excel to include in project accounting reports.
  • Maintain a detailed database tracking tool or all incurred cost daily.
  • Develop financial statements and reports.
  • Organize and upload documents into Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Florida Division of Emergency Management’s (DEM) project management systems.
  • Communicate with staff as needed.
  • Assist the project leader with other duties as assigned.
  • Work with section lead and management to ensure work is completed in an effective manner that facilitates meeting the objectives and measures of the section.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s):

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze, and interpret data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflows, and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Knowledge of FLAIR, MFMP, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to use automated accounting systems, personal computers, and general office equipment.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Three years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, data analysis, program planning and research, or administrative work.
