This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Finance and Accounting.

 

Salary: $64,962.30 Annual Rate

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a professional accounting position that is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and monitoring FLAIR financial data for financial reporting and reconciliation purposes.  Duties may include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Performs assigned duties needed for completion of the Department’s monthly and fiscal year-end closing process.
  • Performs various financial reporting reconciliation activities during the year such as, but not limited to, reconciling FLAIR, reconciling cash receipts and disbursements to Central Accounting cash receipts and disbursements, reconciling property, reconciling interfund and intrafund transaction balances, and reconciling the revolving fund.
  • Executes timely and appropriate corrective action to clear errors and reconciliation issues.
  • Provides technical assistance and guidance to department staff to prevent errors and reconciliation issues.
  • Performs daily checks of fund balances and monitors and analyzes the Trial Balance for atypical balances, use of invalid general ledger codes or categories, and coordinates with the supervisor or appropriate areas for resolution.
  • Prepares assigned annual financial forms and supporting schedules for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Department of Financial Services Statewide Financial Reporting requirements.
  • Assists with the preparation of other financial or special reports as needed.
  • Conducts diverse ad hoc analyses and fulfills various reporting functions, including tasks associated with the implementation of Florida PALM and examination of accounting data.
  • Supports the Area Financial Manager by collecting, analyzing, and organizing data to address requests from the Auditor General’s Office.
  • Assists the Area Financial Manager and Financial Reporting Supervisor with implementation of new GASB standards.
  • Maintains the Chart of Accounts while assessing and analyzing FLAIR account code requests to identify the need for new coding, such as org codes, projects, expansion options, and set indicators to ensure effective and accurate accounting.
  • Analyzes and interprets financial data to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Produces clear and concise correspondence, reports, procedural guidelines, policy documents, and special analyses in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as required, including special projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • A bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting; or business major and 24 semester hours of accounting coursework; or four (4) years of government accounting experience.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three (3) or more years of experience preparing governmental financial statements.
  • Two (2) or more years of FLAIR experience.
