This advertisement is for an Other Personnel Services (OPS) position in the Office of Administration located at Central Office, Tallahassee, Florida

 

Salary Rate: $17.00 hourly

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This Senior Clerk position reports to the General Services Administrator in the Office of Administration and works in the Support Services section. The duties and responsibilities of this position, although not limited to those enumerated below, are as follows:

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the mailroom by receiving, opening, sorting, and distributing all incoming mail and processing all outgoing mail using the most reasonable and cost-effective means of shipment.
  • Receives, sorts, and distributes all incoming accountable mail and packages utilizing internal tracking software and provides and collects signatures as needed to provide a chain of custody for accountable mail and packages. Provides reports as requested by management and assists Department customers in the creation of accountable mail labels and the tracking of accountable mail packages.
  • Conducts the daily transport of Central Office mail/packages and warrants to and from USPS offices, Central Office facilities, and outside agencies.
  • Maintains office files regarding postal information, United Parcel Service, overnight and ground couriers.
  • Ensures postage meter equipment, mail scanner, and MailSecure T-ray screening system receive timely updates and are working properly.
  • Ensures an adequate stock of all needed mailing and shipping supplies, including but not limited to mailing envelopes, boxes, shipping labels, and meter postage funds.
  • Provides quality and friendly customer service to all Department members and the public while performing mail duties.
  • Assists other Support Services functions, such as paper deliveries, print jobs, waste toner replacement requests, records management, recycling/shredding, fleet logs, LiveScan fingerprinting, etc.
  • Assists with special projects as directed by management.

You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or its equivalency
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with MS Office Software
  • Experience with mailroom operations
