POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is in the Financial Management bureau. This position is responsible for the management and supervision of the department’s Payroll, Financial Reconciliations and Quality Control unit. The incumbent will be responsible for the identification and resolution of operational and management problems in the area. This position uses independent judgement managing and supervising subordinates perming varied accounting and administrative responsibilities within the Financial Management bureau.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Recommending and establishing procedures to achieve operational objectives by prioritizing assignments and establishing workloads;
- Assisting in the development and implementation of more effective accounting procedures and controls;
- Reviewing procedures to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness;
- Handling processes relating to personnel including hiring, establishing performance standards, training, evaluations, and other personnel related matters;
- Interfacing with departmental members, state agencies, vendors and others as necessary;
- Interpreting and administering pertinent federal and state rules, regulations, and statutes in accordance with sound accounting principles;
- Preparing financial reports, cost projections, and related financial statements;
- Ensuring payroll tasks and reconciliations are completed in accordance with established time frames; and
- Ensuring quality control measures appropriately for an accounting office are implemented and reviewed.
To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least one year of State of Florida Accounting or State of Florida Human Resource experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures;
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
- Knowledge of the Florida Accounting Information System (FLAIR);
- Ability to develop and monitor policies and procedures relating to accounting;
- Ability to develop and organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, proposals and other written documents;
- Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
- Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data;
- Ability to supervise people; and
- Ability to research and find errors in reconciliation.

BASE SALARY:
- $71,440.98
NOTES:
Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
