POSITION SUMMARY:

The Forensic Services Quality Manager (FSQM) works under the direction of the Forensic Services Director in the performance of assigned responsibilities. The FSQM is responsible to ensure the FDLE forensic laboratory system and its members operate in accordance with the approved Forensic Science Quality Manual, standard operating procedures, and approved training program.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Managing and maintaining the Forensic Quality Assurance Program Reports and following-up on corrective actions of any nonconformities found in the FDLE quality system;
  • Approving the remediation of technical issues and the evaluation and resolution of any less than satisfactory proficiency test results or technical problems in case examinations;
  • Directing the quality assurance duties of the Assistant Quality Managers and Forensic Accreditation Manager;
  • Following-up with laboratories on disclosures of non-compliance;
  • Directing the completion of the annual management review;
  • Coordinating the ANAB accreditation process; and
  • Actively participating in forensic management discussions as a member of the Executive Council.

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. At least three years of experience as a FDLE Crime Laboratory Analyst Supervisor; or

2. At least 3 years of experience as a technical leader of a discipline.

Note: Preference may be given to applicants with quality assurance experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of forensic laboratory management and operations, ISO/IEC 17025, ANAB 3125, QAS standards and OSAC standards;
  • Skill to effectively and positively deal with Chiefs of Forensic Services, technical leaders, Crime Laboratory Analyst Supervisors, proficiency test providers and other forensic professionals in carrying out the day to day responsibilities and effectively utilize database and word processing software;
  • Ability to work well with other people, work independently, have good organizational skills, make effective oral presentations, prepare well-written reports, and maintain confidentiality in all quality and accreditation matters; and
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of forensic operations and practices.

BASE SALARY:

  • $91,927.50

 

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
