The Work You Will Do:
General Payment Manager, Disbursement Operations Office
This is a professional financial management position charged with managing the Department’s general payment systems and processes, as well as the supervision of all accounting staff in the Central Office, General Payments Section of the Disbursement Operations Office. General Payments is responsible for timely and accurately auditing and processing of general payments for purchase orders, travel, purchasing card, individual reimbursement requests, utilities and other miscellaneous general payments.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Supervises employees by communicating regularly, motivating, training, evaluating, and planning and directing employees’ work. Performs the role of supervisor to the General Payments Section. This responsibility also includes performing all hiring and taking any disciplinary actions necessary to achieve the work objectives of the unit. Reviews work of subordinate employees for accuracy, completeness and compliance with directives, policies and procedures; evaluates work performance, controls workflow and ensures compliance with established deadlines; establishes job priorities and assigns work; promotes and encourages career progression of personnel; establishes and conducts proficiency training according to job assignments; assesses current and future needs for personnel and training.
Directs, plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the activities of the General Payments staff. Oversees the processing of invoices for payment for goods and services acquired by a variety of procurement methods and authorized by law. Monitors the reimbursement of allowable travel expenditures in connection with official state business. Monitors processing of automated invoice transactions in the MyFloridaMarketPlace system.
Oversees efforts to improve the timeliness and accuracy of processing pay documents, including the discussion of issues/problems with district personnel, and central office, and the review of department policies and state comptroller requirements. Provide interpretations and responses to procedural and policy questions/issues relating to the audit and payment of vendor invoices.
