The Work You Will Do:
GIS Applications Coordinator / Transportation Data and Analytics
The GIS Applications Coordinator supports and maintains the Department’s Linear Referencing System (LRS) and Unified LRS, ensuring database integrity and assisting with technology migrations. This role manages spatial data production processes, develops and maintains enterprise spatial databases, and ensures compliance with data governance standards. Responsibilities include designing and supporting custom GIS applications, tools, and services through ArcGIS platforms, as well as providing technical GIS support during emergency operations.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Linear Referencing System and Unified LRS
Support the Department’s linear referencing system (LRS) database and ArcGIS editing environments. Support database environment, applications, and customizations in support of the Unified LRS. Assist with migrating the LRS database and ArcGIS editing capabilities to newer technologies as they become available.
Spatial Data Production
Maintain and support processes and applications to create and update the TDA Office’s spatial databases available to the Department and the public. Develop and maintain databases to store current and historical spatial data for enterprise consumption. Maintain spatial databases that support roadway characteristics and traffic count data. Ensure that data governance practices are followed in accordance with Department procedures.
Application Development and Support
Design and implement custom GIS applications for use by Department personnel and the public (as appropriate). Provide and maintain applications via ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and other GIS-related technologies. Develop custom data editing tools, geoprocessing tools, and others as required.
Emergency Management Support
Provide technical support for GIS-related products and services in response to emergencies. Provide in-person support at the Department’s Emergency Operations Center as required during emergencies.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Geographic information systems concepts.
- Geographic information systems software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
- Linear referencing concepts.
- Database management systems.
Skills in:
- Working with geographic information systems software and data.
- GIS customization using Python and/or other programming languages.
Ability to:
- Learn and utilize new geographic information systems technologies, software, and concepts.
- Perform spatial analysis and interpret results.
- Interpret and communicate technical information relating to geographic information systems both verbally and in writing.
- Develop and maintain cordial, effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers, both in Central Office and with the Districts.
Other Job-Related Requirements:
Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a very short timeframe and serve in the Transportation Emergency Management Team (TEMT).
Minimum Qualifications:
Five (5) years of experience in geographic information systems and Esri software utilization.
