MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma or its equivalent and seven (7) years of professional or nonprofessional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, engineering or administrative work; or

A bachelor’s degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of professional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, engineering or administrative work; or

A master’s degree (6 years) from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of required experience as listed above.

Possession of a valid Class E Driver License.

JOB DUTIES:

Prepares correspondence, data summaries, and technical documentation related to assigned energy issues. Contributes to the FDACS Office of Energy Annual Report by preparing charts, tables, and data‑driven content. Assists with maintaining the Office of Energy’s Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and supports staffing of State Emergency Functions 12 and 19 as needed.

Performs duties related to energy policy and legislative analysis for the Office of Energy. Supports the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of programs designed to promote renewable energy, energy conservation, and energy efficiency.  Works closely with the Legislation Specialist - SES and the Deputy Director to implement key initiatives and priorities regarding energy policy and development of energy legislation. 

Assists in analyzing policy, economic, environmental, and energy‑related data to support the development of energy policy and legislative recommendations aligned with the FDACS Commissioner’s agenda. Conducts data collection and quantitative analysis to communicate current, emerging, and future energy issues.

Provides analytical support during meetings and policy discussions with public and private entities, particularly on topics involving the energy security and energy use in agriculture. Tracks and compiles data related to state legislation on energy, alternative fuel vehicles, and other issues affecting the Office of Energy during the Florida Legislative Session. Prepares data summaries, charts, and draft bill analyses when requested. Monitors federal programs and policies related to assigned energy issues and prepares supporting data reports or comments as needed.

Supports efforts to promote energy efficiency and conservation by developing data‑based informational materials for consumers and stakeholders. Assists in identifying opportunities for collaboration with agencies, organizations, local governments, universities, and utilities. Helps identify entities involved in research, technology transfer, and demonstration projects, and compiles data on available resources for program implementation.

Participates in national, regional, and local energy calls and meetings related to assigned energy issues, providing data insights and technical support as needed.

Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Office of Energy Legislation Specialist – SES, Director, and/or Deputy Director,.
