Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Promote positive working relationships and facilitate ongoing communication and cooperation between the Department and local governments and the community development team.
- Serve as a liaison between the Department and local governments and partnerships to ensure efficient and seamless coordination and response to the needs of the communities.
- Monitor federal and state regulations, as well as changes or revisions.
- Research new and existing policies to ensure that the State is current with federal and state guidelines.
- Monitor and plan the impact to Florida of Federal and State rules and regulations relating to broadband capabilities, electronic health initiatives, digital literacy and e-government participation by citizens.
- Review and analyze state and federal funding opportunities and programs to ensure effective and efficient delivery of programmatic funding.
- Oversee the Local Technology Planning Team Initiative
- Communicate regularly with Local Technology Planning Team members and prospective members, including local governments, business leaders, non-profits, internet service providers, and others.
- Keep active records of Local Technology Planning Team membership, leadership, meeting occurrence and attendance, and financial status.
- Is confident answering questions regarding the Office and its programs to Local Technology Planning Team members.
- Travels throughout the state to attend Local Technology Planning Team meetings in-person as requested.
- Research and respond to funding opportunities that promote and expand broadband in Florida.
- Assist with the writing of updates for the Strategic Plan for Broadband.
- Work independently to plan, organize, and coordinate tasks.
- Prepare summaries and analyses of proposed federal and state legislation and draft amendment language.
- Monitor legislation in other states and broadband offices.
- Develop and update program rules as required by statute and as appropriate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of broadband infrastructure and deployment in Florida.
- Knowledge of grant programs and funding opportunities.
- Ability to coordinate with federal, state, and local entities.
- Knowledge of the Legislative process, inner workings of state government, and ability to represent the department and board in public meetings.
- Knowledge of the state’s key economic drivers.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to produce professional level written work products.
- Proficiency in utilization of computer using Word®, Excel®, PowerPoint®.
- Ability to perform computer-based research activities.
- Ability to work independently to plan, organize, and coordinate tasks.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to manage priorities and meet established deadlines.
- Ability to travel and represent the Department; Ability to travel overnight as needed.
- Ability to provide effective presentations to elected officials and staff.
Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
Pay: $52,859.88 annually

The Work You Will Do:
The Government Analysts II position working in the Office of Broadband. This includes providing education and information to local leaders, local, regional, and state organizations, business leaders and others, to encourage communication and collaboration among our partners, state and federal agencies and the private sector.

The purpose of the Office of Broadband is to assist communities throughout Florida with expanding broadband internet access. The Office of Broadband uses strategies, planning, studies, and partnerships of various programs around the state and available within the Department of Commerce’s (COM) Division of Community Development (DCD) to energize economic growth and create jobs for families in Florida.
