Preference:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, economics, statistics, data science, or a related field. Four (4) years of experience in a related area can substitute for the preferred bachelor's degree.

 

 

The salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 annually.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

 

Role Overview:

This position supports leadership by providing data-driven insights that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability across state and local government. The position focuses on analyzing programs, operations, and expenditures to identify opportunities for performance improvement, cost savings, and enhanced service delivery for taxpayers.  Also directly contributes to improving how government works—helping deliver better services, reduce waste, and ensure public resources are used effectively and transparently.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Research, Analysis & Evaluation

  • Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research on government programs, processes, and service delivery models
  • Evaluate policy and operational initiatives to assess effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and impact
  • Benchmark performance against peer states and national best practices

 

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Collect, and analyze administrative, financial, and operational data
  • Develop performance metrics, dashboards, and analytical models to track efficiency and outcomes
  • Identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process improvement
  • Support performance management initiatives, including agency scorecards and outcome tracking

 

Policy & Budget Support

  • Provide analytical support for budget development, fiscal notes, and resource allocation decisions
  • Assess cost-effectiveness and return on investment for government programs and initiatives
  • Support evidence-based recommendations during decision making

 

Collaboration with Team

  • Work closely with policy teams, operations staff, and IT/data teams
  • Support cross-departmental initiatives aimed at improving productivity, service quality, and value for money
