This position serves as a forms analyst in the Office of Insurance Regulation’s Life and Health Product Review Division which reviews forms filed with the Office for compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.  This position requires an extensive and in-depth understanding of life and health insurance products; a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; compliance with laws, policies and procedures; and adherence to timeframes.

This level position independently performs the following duties with moderate supervision.

Reviews complex form filings and independently determines if the following individual and group contracts are in compliance: life insurance, annuities, health insurance, health maintenance organizations, prepaid limited health services organizations, discount medical plan organizations, continuing care retirement communities, and viatical settlements, including their applicable contracts, forms, endorsements, riders, applications and advertisements.

Uses checklists and internal review forms to process all form filings within established timeframes in compliance with applicable statutes, rules and regulations.

 

Uses the Insurance Regulation Filing System to monitor workflow and independently establish work priorities.

Coordinates with management and other forms analysts for peer review of filings.

Assists management with training and mentoring of less experienced employees.

Assists with developing new processes and technology.

Professional Development and Performs Related Work as Required

Maintains working knowledge of statutes, rules, and regulations affecting insurance and viatical contract forms, keeps abreast of changes to applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and provides input and proposes statutory or rule revisions.

Represents the Office at professional meetings and conferences and attends conferences, workshops, and training programs and researches related literature to enhance professional knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Represents the Office by participating in conference calls and meetings with other State regulators and industry representatives to discuss compliance requirements, develop standards and address concerns.

Responds to requests from and assists Office personnel, industry representatives, agents and consumers.

Trains, Helps Develop Other Employees, and additional work as may be assigned

Assists in the training of other analysts, teaching them the aspects of the position.  Assists in the development

of analysts as they work filings.  Keeps abreast of changes in laws for the state as they pertain to the products that are reviewed, handled, and discussed.
