About the Role:

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, builds strong working relationships with others, and can turn big-picture thinking into action as our Strategic Initiatives Lead. In this role, you will serve within the Director’s Office on the Strategic Planning Services team and contribute to advancing MQA’s mission through high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that strengthen MQA’s operations, workforce, and regulatory effectiveness. You will connect the dots across strategy, communications, and operations, fostering a more connected and performance-driven culture.

As a trusted advisor to division leadership, you will rely on your strong communication, project execution, and stakeholder engagement skills to unify internal processes, close performance gaps, advance strategic goals, and foster alignment across MQA. You will do this by leading division-wide projects, facilitating strategic planning workshops, developing staff engagement tools, supporting critical organizational changes, and helping leadership close performance gaps.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead division-wide initiatives and help institutionalize new processes that improve efficiency, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Support the MQA’s new Performance Management Council.
  • Develop toolkits, templates, and strategic planning frameworks to guide offices in aligning with MQA goals.
  • Draft executive-level briefings, communications, and presentations that translate complex initiatives into clear, actionable content.
  • Create and maintain project plans, charters, and stakeholder maps to drive structured implementation of key initiatives.
  • Partner with offices and leadership to support change management, performance tracking, and employee engagement.
  • Lead workshops and internal feedback sessions to gather insights and improve internal communication and operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must-Haves:

  • Strategic and creative mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from planning through execution.
  • Demonstrated experience developing project plans and leading initiatives across multiple workstreams.
  • Ability to synthesize data and translate insights into clear recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills – especially in creating executive-level deliverables.
  • Excellent organization skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to produce error-free work.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma, Rapid Process Improvement, or familiarity with performance measurement or continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Experience in government, health care, or regulatory environments.
  • Data interpretation or performance management experience.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and helping others work through it.
