Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a highly professional position in the Facility Programs Section. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating, and providing consultative services in all phases of the environmental health programs on a statewide basis. These services are provided to the Division of Disease Control and Health Protection, county health departments, other state and local agencies, industry and the general public. Specific duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

 

Routinely provides guidance with all policy manuals, and oversees STMS, WORKS and DARS for the team. Regularly reviews and edits policies used by the Facility Programs’ team and by county health departments in environmental health program administration throughout the state. Occasionally conduct bill analyses of proposed changes to Florida Statutes.

 

Develops, modifies and uses performance guidelines and standards used to evaluate and assess county health departments performance to ensure consistency and effectiveness of individual environmental health programs with statutory and department requirements. Provides written reports to specific county health departments with recommendations for implementation of corrective acting to provide better and more cost-effective measures to protect Florida’s environment and public health.

 

Assists the Environmental Administrator and Manager with planning and directing multiple statewide environmental health programs, including developing and improving those programs to meet the programs’ needs more effectively and efficiently, directing work activities and projects. Updates programmatic procedural manuals.

 

Periodically represents the section at various departmental, professional and civic meetings regarding health and environmental programs and serves as liaison with other state and local agencies regarding work plan commitments.

 

Performs other duties and assignments as requested by the Environmental Administrator or Bureau Chief.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures, including travel and HR policies.

Ability to work independently, as well as manage and organize the workload.

Efficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum: Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred: Bachelor in Science degree or 3 years of experience.
