POSITION OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a professional position at the Tallahassee office of the Department of Elder Affairs. This position reports directly to the Chief of Planning and Evaluation – SES, who supervises the Planning and Grant Development Unit for the Bureau of Planning and Evaluation. This position serves as the lead grant coordinator for the Department.
PAY:
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from $51,320.28 to $58,500.00, annually.
THE WORK YOU WILL DO:
The Government Analyst II supports the Department of Elder Affairs by coordinating high-impact planning, reporting, and grant activities. In this role, you will:
- Lead the coordination of grant development efforts, including research, tracking, and submission support.
- Support the development of strategic documents such as the State Plan on Aging and Long-Range Program Plan.
- Collaborate with program offices and executive leadership on cross-agency initiatives that strengthen operations, planning, and funding strategy.
- Assist in the preparation of key reports, proposals, and planning materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in special projects related to policy, evaluation, and process improvement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent public speaking and facilitating skills
- Knowledge of grant research, writing, and application standards and best practices
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to grant writing activities
- Ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for the Department or Florida's Aging Network Ability to edit large documents and manage edits from multiple users
- Knowledge of project management software and diagramming tools such as Smartsheet and Visio
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate assignments to meet established deadlines
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and work as a part of a team
- Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate data
- Ability to produce meaningful reports in a timely manner
- Ability to plan, organize, and conduct meetings and make presentations
- Ability to lead discussions and present materials
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four years of experience in grant coordination, public administration, policy analysis, or project management preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
- Strong written communication and organizational skills.
- Experience using Microsoft tools, Smartsheet, or other collaborative platforms is a plus.
