POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Office of General Services, reporting either to the support services section. This is independent work providing management consulting services for the department’s fleet program.  This position manages the master vehicle records for the department, utilizing the Automated Investigation Management System (AIMS) and the Department of Management Services (DMS) state fleet system to maintain records. Incumbent identifies and analyzes complex problems and develops, recommends, and implements solutions to issues related to FDLE vehicles.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Coordinating with division personnel to ensure that vehicle records are up to date and any discrepancies are corrected;
  • Serving as the liaison between FDLE and Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) for tag assignments and DMS Fleet team for adding and surplusing vehicles;
  • Assigning vehicle numbers to incoming vehicles;
  • Managing vehicle tags, titles, and registrations for all vehicles owned by the Department and validating vehicle information uploaded from AIMS to the DMS State Fleet System to ensure data submitted corresponds;
  • Assigning fictitious (business) information to sworn and forfeited vehicles, including vehicles used for law enforcement support;
  • Recording additions, deletions, and any other information as required in the state fleet system;
  • Providing reports for Program/Regional liaisons outlining vehicles in their particular location;
  • Ensuring tag renewals are ordered and distributed to liaisons by May 15th and November 15th respectively  for vehicles under 5,000 lbs. and over 5,000 lbs;
  • Developing and providing reports for management review as requested; and
  • Managing disposition of vehicle fleet, (sold, salvaged, traded).

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the DMS Fleet Management System;
  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices;
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication;
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to prepare administrative reports and correspondence;
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
