The Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) is a customer-oriented agency responsible for managing the various business and workforce-related functions of state government. Under the direction of Governor Ron DeSantis and DMS’ Executive Leadership Team, the agency oversees the real estate, procurement, human resources, group insurance, retirement, telecommunications, state technology, private prisons, fleet, and federal property assistance programs utilized throughout Florida’s state government. DMS is relied upon to establish, maintain and improve the business processes used by state employees to create a better, not bigger government.  DMS facilitates the delivery of these programs and services and provides tools and training to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of the state’s workforce. Position responsibilities:

This is a highly professional position designing and development standard and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and data visualization reporting solutions.

  • Undertake independent analyses of multiple functioning information sources to extract, analyze, and transform data to drive key business decisions. Collaborate with executive management to define reporting requirements and analyze outputs to assist with planning and management of budget reporting and operational activities. Responds to information requests from senior executives for strategic reviews and planning activities.   
  • Gather and document reporting requirements, use reporting tools, applications, and queries to create new and modified reports based on changing operational requirements.  Validate and test reports to ensure accuracy and quality.  Visualize and present summary data to internal and external stakeholders.  Work with executive management on disparate but interrelated projects, provide innovative solutions for improved operational effectiveness, cost-efficiency and customer service.      

The position will also manage the Software Asset Management system and the monitoring of Capacity and Availability statistics within the State Data Center.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma 
  • Expertise in relational database structures, principles, and data mining practices.
  • Experience using PowerBI or Tableau.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Management Information Systems.
  • Advanced computer software skills with standard database query tools and programs such as SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services, Tableau, Crystal Reports, MS Report Builder, and Excel).
  • Familiarity with Cherwell, Tivoli Endpoint Manager/Reporting Services, MPWR, ServiceNow.
  • Familiarity with State of Florida LAS/PBS, BAPS and FLAIR
  • Familiarity with Data Center Operations
  • Familiarity with Cloud Services such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
