This is an onsite position in Tallahassee, Florida.

 

 

 

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

DEP’s Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is currently recruiting for a Government Operations Consultant I. This is a varied and highly responsible position involving administrative and operational work within the Business Management Services (BMS) section in the Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS). The incumbent of this position must demonstrate building strong relationship and interpersonal skills in working with program staff and potential hiring candidates. This position also serves as a customer service representative on behalf of this office when interacting with customers through all communication media. The incumbent will represent OTIS and must be helpful, cooperative, polite, respectful, and courteous at all times in interactions with customers.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • In coordination with OTIS’ HR manager, performs HR-related onboarding and offboarding tasks for FTE and OPS positions, including, but not limited to, scheduling interviews, preparing interview packets and schedules, maintaining org charts, submitting Cherwell tickets, ensuring required training is completed, and maintaining recruitment files. Assists in maintaining accurate and complete electronic personnel files for FTE and OPS positions.
  • Serves as backup for HR-related onboarding and offboarding tasks for OTIS’ contracted positions (staff augmentation and contracted projects), performing tasks similar to the onboarding and offboarding of FTE and OPS positions.
  • Serves as OTIS’ Requisition Manager, including but not limited to, opening and closing requisitions in People First and posting advertisements following DEP and OTIS standards; performs initial screening of incoming applications. After the closing date, provides application link and next step instructions to the hiring manager and respective program administrator.
  • Processes and approves Electronic Subscriber Agreement (ESA) PIN requests; audits requests to ensure compliance; files electronically; and responds to requestor.  Assists subscribers with resetting PINs and other access issues, as needed.
  • Assists the BMS section in documentation of internal standards and procedures, as needed.
  • Serves as primary OTIS property custodian, which includes handling, receiving, assigning, storing, shipping and inventorying OTIS-owned and -managed equipment. 
  • Serves as OTIS’ records retention, public records and communications liaison.
  • Serves as a back-up to OTIS’ Leave Liaison/Timekeeper, including but not limited to, assisting with timesheet submissions, reporting LWOP and assisting with FMLA and other leave-related questions/issues.  
  • Assists in the planning and execution of special projects, monitoring progress and ensuring timely completion.
  • Maintains proficiency in the use of office equipment, software applications, and a working knowledge of established state and DEP laws, policies, procedures and directives as necessary to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge/work experience State of Florida Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Knowledge/work experience in the use of applicable computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and basic computer functions

 

Position of Special Trust Requirement:

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience working with State of Florida Human Resource policies and procedures
  • Work experience in using the People First Talent Management module
