Position Overview and Responsibilities:

This position is in the Office of Environmental Services.    

Provides support and assistance to the Florida Forever program and the Office of Environmental Services (OES). Assists the Program Manager with the review and database input of Florida Forever proposals and processes initial applications. This task includes but is not limited to the related activities of assisting with logistics for new Florida Forever proposal site visits, and Acquisition and Restoration Council (ARC) agenda items. Assists with stakeholder engagement and developing outward facing communications for the Florida Forever program. Assists with the development and maintenance of Florida Forever information on the OES website.  Assists with the annual update and continuous improvement of the Florida Forever plan, including drafting/compiling project descriptions and management prospectus, and coordinating with OES and DSL colleagues to obtain data needed for updating project changes.

Coordinates with other Department staff, as needed, and prepares appropriate correspondence. Tracks reviews and responses through requests and reports. Ensures that all outward facing information is in the appropriate technology. Assists in review of Florida Forever processes for archiving, documentation, and reporting in order to utilize the most current technology accessible. Assists in research and planning for meetings, conferences, seminars, ARC, and special projects. Assists the Office, Division and Department, with coordinating, conducting, and formulating technical and policy reviews and recommendations involving the state’s land conservation issues and programs.

Works with State-Owned Lands Inventory on improvements to relevant IT functions.

Performs other related duties, as required.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:  the methods of data collection and analysis; basic management principles and practices; concepts, terminology, and principles of land use planning; Florida’s natural communities and ecosystems.  Ability to:  produce all outward facing information in appropriate technology; organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials; collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices; utilize problem-solving techniques; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities; understand and communicate technical information verbally and in writing; conduct fact-finding research; plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; communicate effectively.  Skill in:  Professional writing, speaking and presentations; the use of personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Must maintain a Valid Driver’s License.

Travel is required. 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of verifiable work experience; or any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable experience, as described above, for a total of 6 years.
