Duties and Responsibilities
The Government Operations Consultant I position is within the Financial Accounting and Fixed Assets section of the Bureau of Accounting and is responsible for performing a wide variety of accounting and reconciliation functions. This position performs independent administrative and consultative work involving the identification and resolution of operational and management problems for the departments risk management area to include automobile accident claims, insurance policies and the contraband forfeiture accountability program. This incumbent is also responsible for processing all property requests for the Division of Admin services (DAS) and Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). In Addition, this position maintains records for all location assignments codes, disposal of tagged property, lost/missing property and the current list of custodian delegates. This incumbent is also responsible for coordinating and advising divisions/personnel regarding the annual inventory process for the agency and facilitating the sale of surplus property via online auction process.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of State of Florida accounting policies and procedures.
- Skill in reconciling financial data, balancing financial accounts, and comparing records to determine whether the figures are accurate and in agreement.
- Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Detail oriented with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Skill in Microsoft Office applications including Access, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to use sound judgment to identify problems, generate and evaluate alternative solutions, and make recommendations.
- Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage completing deadlines.
- Skill in communicating effectively with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work well independently yet works cohesively within the section to maintain internal control measures.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- Experience with property.
- Experience with accounting and financial data.
- High attention to detail.
- Microsoft Office applications include Access, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience using ServiceNow.

- FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
