Your Specific Responsibilities:
Media Relations
- Assist FloridaCommerce Office of Communications with responses to media requests.
- Handle media inquiries, distributing office news to staff, drafting statements for internal and external communication.
- Provides support to the Office of Communications with responses to media request.
- Writing, editing, and distributing program press releases, statements, correspondences, marketing materials, responses to communications and legislative requests and meeting appropriate deadlines.
- Plans and ensures that program communications products are current and appropriate.
- Reviews documents for accuracy, correct format, and grammatical errors.
- Prepares fact sheets or other written material for distribution.
Research
- Assist with developing briefings for internal and external meetings through independent research.
- Explore opportunities to find new, appropriate strategies to share mission with a diverse stakeholder audience.
- Review materials/communications to ensure the Department's internal communications are current, appropriate and accurate.
Electronic/News/Media
- Update webpage content to ensure accurate and timely improvement of content on the website.
- Provide technical assistance to program offices and their leads regarding webpage content, layout, and formatting.
- Actively monitor the online news coverage and social media platforms.
- Create content for the department's social media pages and engage in responsive communication with the online community.
- Assist COM's Office of Communications with responses to program related media requests.
- Assist in the coordination and fact-checking of information for internal and external requests for program information.
- Assist in the creation of program related press releases and external communications.
Outreach Materials
- Manage creation, production, editing, and dissemination of printed and electronic materials for internal education, program development and external outreach.
- Draft and edit automated correspondence and notifications to program participants.
- Compile information for agency reports.
- Assist with the management of the Division's internal relations activities as well as the planning, directing and developing of communications.
- Attend meetings, conferences and related public engagements on behalf of the Division.
Administrative
- Prepares and participates in program presentations and training.
- Assists with special projects as assigned.
- Actively proposes continuous improvements for the program’s communication needs.
- Attend meetings as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of project management and business analyst concepts, techniques, methodologies, and practices.
- Knowledge of and how to operate common business software applications such as Microsoft Office.
- Possess the technical knowledge as well as the verbal and writing skills needed to effectively research topics and write articles or prepare information for dissemination.

This is a highly responsible position that reports to the Government Operations Consultant Ill - SES, Communications and External Affairs Manager within the Division of Community Development, Office of the Deputy Secretary and serves as a Communications Coordinator for the Division of Community Development.
