Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of small business lending, contract management, and public-private financing programs. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Support the management of contracts currently overseen by senior staff, including tracking deadlines, deliverables, and performance metrics.
- Assist in preparing financial reports, summaries, and dashboards for program leadership
- Maintain accurate financial data, ensuring consistency with accounting and reporting standards
- Track expenditures, budget allocations, and program financial performance
- Act as a liaison between program managers and the Finance & Accounting teams to support reconciliation, documentation, and audit readiness
- Support invoice review, payment processing, and verification of funding allocations
- Compile data from multiple sources to support quarterly and annual reporting requirements
- Assist with the development of financial models, basic forecasts, or trend analyses as needed
- Maintain organized financial records and support compliance documentation for state and federal programs
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, or public-sector budgeting
- Familiarity with financial documentation, reconciliations, or grant/contract reporting (preferred but not required)
- An understanding of economic development or government programs is a plus

- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools (sorting, filtering, formulas, pivot tables, forecasting)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-team coordination
- Ability to analyze numerical data and identify discrepancies or trends
- Abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain organized records
- Ability to work collaboratively with Finance and Accounting, Budget and Program teams
- Capacity to learn financial systems, reporting tools, and state processes quickly
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Ability to develop working relationships with colleagues and partners
Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
Minimum:
- Must complete the Florida Certified Contract Manager Certification Training within 12 months of appointment.
- Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
- Travel may be required up to 25% of the time
Preferred:
- Experience in finance, accounting, economics, or public administration
- Experience preparing financial reports, budgets, or reconciliations
- Familiarity with financial documentation, audits, or state/federal reporting
- Experience working with Excel, financial models, or data validation
- Exposure to government programs and public-sector finance
- Experience supporting cross-team communication between finance and program staff
Pay:
$45,000.00 – $55,000.00 Annually

The Work You Will Do:
The Program Financial Analyst will provide essential financial and analytical support to the Office of Small Business Innovation. This role will assist with program financial reporting, data validation, budget tracking, and coordination between the finance, accounting, and program management teams.
