Florida Library Youth Program Consultant (working title)

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree or six years of direct professional experience.

 

Three years professional experience providing programs or services to, or teaching, children or teens.

 

Experience developing and implementing projects or programs.

 

Experience in establishing and maintaining positive and productive collaborations with internal and external teams.

 

Valid Driver’s license or willingness to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

 

Preferences:

Master’s degree in library / information science or education.

 

Experience working with vendors.

 

Experience managing contracts or purchasing.

 

Experience planning and conducting continuing education activities for adults (i.e., library staff, teachers).

 

Library work experience (professional or other).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops, implements and promotes statewide and local programs to support public library efforts to serve youth populations, including the Florida Library Youth Program (FLYP).  Creates, implements, promotes and publicizes youth services continuing education and training activities. Develops partnerships with allied organizations and encourages collaboration among partners at the state and local level to develop and promote youth services programming.  Prepares applications, reports, position papers, and other documents to support statewide programs that address the needs and issues in Florida's communities related to the provision of youth services. Manages FLYP related purchases and contracts. Responsible for statewide workgroups, Facebook group and social media related to the program.

Provides consulting services to public library administrators and staff, governing officials, library board members, and citizen supporters to encourage best practices with respect to youth services.  Assists staff of the Grants Office to administer grants and ensure that libraries make effective use of available funds.  Responds to requests for information by mail, email, telephone, fax and in person.

Works in a team environment in the Bureau of Library Development to plan and implement Bureau and Division activities, including continuing education opportunities, publications, surveys, grant administration, and other priorities. Efforts are consistent with the values and beliefs of the Division.

 

To fulfill role as a statewide consultant, continues to update professional knowledge and skills.  Maximizes use of all available means of communication to share knowledge and skills with colleagues and customers.

 

Performs other related duties as required. Responsible for ensuring that usage of the State Purchasing Card (P-Card) conforms to all state and departmental rules and procedures.
