Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a highly independent and responsible role within the Division of Public Health Statistics and Performance Management. The selected candidate must have capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, overseeing diverse subject matter areas including health care innovation, statewide drug policy, Alzheimer’s disease initiatives, and other public health priorities within the assigned section. This position primarily entails independent consultative and technical responsibilities, providing leadership and coordination for activities related to healthcare, medical workforce, and specialized advisory councils. The candidate will collaborate closely with the section manager to oversee the operations of various councils, committees, and working groups, including but not limited to the Statewide Drug Policy Advisory Council, Health Care Innovation Council, Rare Disease Advisory Council, Alzheimer’s Disease Research Grant Advisory Board, and others as assigned.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing programmatic coordination, staffing support, and exercising independent judgment to ensure the effective functioning of ad hoc and standing interagency committees. This includes planning, organizing, and coordinating activities, as well as preparing and delivering professional presentations to sub-recipients both in-person and via online platforms.
- Conducting comprehensive research on healthcare innovations, public health trends, and medical workforce initiatives. The candidate will compile and analyze data to evaluate program outcomes, document activities, and provide evidence-based recommendations for management decisions and strategic planning.
- Preparing reports, policy briefs, and research summaries to support policy formulation and program development, directly impacting the agency, public, and other state agencies.
- Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including offices within the Department of Health, other state agencies, academic institutions, associations, and relevant organizations. This involves liaising to coordinate activities, share resources, and stay informed on emerging issues through workshops, conferences, and industry publications.
- Assisting leadership and program staff in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating special projects and strategic initiatives. This includes supporting the development of administrative rules by drafting documents, coordinating workshops, and organizing public meetings.
- Performing other duties as assigned to support the Division’s mission of improving public health outcomes.
The candidate’s leadership, research, and coordination efforts will facilitate informed decision-making and policy development, contributing significantly to the Division’s objectives and the agency’s mission to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Data Presentation: Ability to organize data into a logical format for reports, documents, and other written materials.
- Fact-Finding: Skill in conducting comprehensive fact-finding research.

Qualifications:
- Experience in managing or facilitating external or public facing stakeholder groups.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- At least 1 years of experience in coordinating boards, councils, or committees.
- Familiarity with drafting reports, policy documents, and conducting basic data analysis.
- Preferred - Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Public Health, Public Administration, Political Science, Communications, or a related area.
- 3-4 years of experience in a role involving coordination of councils, committees, or task forces.
- Demonstrated experience in report writing, research, and data analysis.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and government reporting requirements.
- Strong organizational and planning skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
