This is independent and complex consultative work assisting management in the coordination of administrative matters within the Captive Wildlife Section. 

 

Managing and providing oversight for the electronic licensing solution. Responsible for staffing, work assignments, quality management and risk identification and mitigation.  Directs, coordinates, and completes day-to-day project activities.  Coordinates with team responsible for the automated system project.  Recommend approval or rejection of project deliverables.  Provides regular status updates to supervisor.  Communicates with internal and external groups to keep all necessary parties informed of project plans, updates, and upcoming events.  Serves as a liaison with the Office of Licensing and Permitting and the vendor after the system is live, which includes monitoring the system performance and setups to ensure accuracy and reliability of the system functions.  Analyzing and communicating issues and problems to appropriate internal staff and vendor and managing administrative roles. Representing captive wildlife during development of any future automated system project.

 

Assists with rule development which includes coordinating for commission meetings, making rule recommendations and coordinating internal rule meetings, coordinating stakeholder outreach, assisting with drafting rule language and planning projects to ensure timelines are met,

 

Assist with coordinating captive wildlife training.  Serve as project manager for large or long-term administrative projects.  Monitors and reviews Section intranet and internet web content for accuracy while ensuring the most up to date information is posted online.  Coordinates with Section staff to update Section webpage.  Assists in publishing public meeting notices for the Section including filing of Notices of Rule Development and Notices of Rule Adoption with the Department of State and the Florida Administrative Register. Organizes and maintains filing system for the office, maintains a records retention schedule and ensures records are disposed of in accordance with Agency guidelines. 

 

Drafts and revises correspondence, memoranda, reports, rule packages, administrative notices, and other office documents.

 

Performs other duties as requested.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: 

 

  • Knowledge of law enforcement principles and techniques.  
  • Ability to communicate with the public in a tactful and courteous manner. 
  • Ability to understand and apply laws, rules and regulations and policies and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis. 
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
  • Skill using Microsoft Office suite and using web-based systems. 
  • Skilled in fact-finding research, problem solving, and documentation of needs. 
  • Skilled in verifying accuracy of system setups/data, delegations of tasks, planning and completing of steps necessary to successfully complete projects, coordinating work assignments, and recommending revisions to procedures or standards. 
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and system practices. 
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials. 
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. 
  • Ability to supervise people. 
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
