WORKING TITLE: GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT II

This open competitive advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located at Central Office in the Office of Financial Management.

 

The mission statement of the Office of Financial Management (OFM) within the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide accurate, timely, and relevant financial information and services to support the Department's mission of ensuring public safety, providing for the care and custody of inmates, and facilitating their successful reentry into society.

 

This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Compliance Champion: Ensure timely payment of the department’s legal liabilities by adhering to fiscal standards, including §215.422 F.S., State Expenditures Guide, and HIPAA.
  • Data Verification Expert: Utilize FLAIR, BARS, and Ariba on Demand (AOD) to verify accounting entries and maintain accuracy.
  • Invoice Auditor: Audit invoices for accuracy and completeness, review source documents, and identify inaccuracies to ensure compliance.
  • Report Specialist: Prepare and submit accurate reports on time, providing additional documentation as needed.
  • Problem Solver: Collaborate with management, vendors, and staff to resolve invoice payment issues and respond to inquiries from internal and external customers.

BENEFITS:

OPS employees who work an average of 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in state group insurance plans. Standard PPO/HMO Options include:

    • Employee Only: $25 biweekly
    • Spouse Program: $15 biweekly
    • Employee & Family: $90 biweekly.

  • Retirement - As an OPS employee, the Florida FICA Alternative Plan with Corebridge Financial affords you an excellent opportunity to help accumulate money for a secure retirement. You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent AND two years of experience in accounting, finance, or administrative work; or
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be Permitted to have Access to Department Institutions and FLAIR.
  • Preference will be given for Invoice and Customer Service experience.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
