The Work You Will Do:
Performs contract manager duties for assigned broadband programs and special projects. Duties include:
- Provides technical assistance to applicants, reviews applications, composes recommendations, justification and approval letters;
- Develop deliverables and prepare agreements and amendments as required;
- Tracks and reviews quarterly reports;
- Performs desk and onsite monitoring of assigned projects;
- Reviews, verifies and prepares reimbursement requests;
- Tracks project budgets and schedules;
- Maintains good working relationships and keeps in close coordination with grant recipients;
- Maintains all files on the contract from execution to final closeout; and.
- Enters data into the grant tracking system for each assigned contract.
- Responds in a timely and comprehensive manner to inquiries sent by internal or external entities regarding grant projects.
- Works on special projects, as needed, for the Office of Broadband.
- Works with public and private entities to build partnerships for the Office of Broadband.
- Coordinate with federal and state agencies, private internet provider companies and provide technical assistance to communities.
- Assists in coordinating statewide meetings.
- Assists with the continued development and implementation of the Office of Broadband programs to help build strong sustainable communities that are business friendly.
- Promotes positive working relationships and facilitates ongoing communication and cooperation between the Department/Division and broadband/economic development partnerships.
- Assists with research on other state’s programs and best practices.
- Supports, coordinates, and represents the Office at meetings, councils, conferences, and other events (virtual or in-person) as needed.
- Prepares summaries of meetings attended and summaries of funding opportunities for the Office of Broadband
- Works independently to plan, organize, and coordinate tasks.
- Prepares summaries and analyses of proposed legislation and draft amendment language.
- Provides assistance with administrative duties for the Office of Broadband.
- Maintains good working relationships with partnering agencies.
- Prepare reports and analyses as requested by the supervisor for use in decision-making.
- Routinely reviews external grant program best practices to ensure a high level of program execution.
- Other job-related duties as required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
- Knowledge of state grant/contract processing policies and procedures;
- Knowledge of broadband Internet technologies and expansion opportunities;
- Working Knowledge of State purchasing procedures, including use of purchasing cards;
- Working knowledge of managing state grant agreements and contracts;
- Skill in both written and verbal communication;
- Strong organization skills;
- Skill in use of spreadsheet and word processing software, developing tracking documents and creating reports;
- Ability to coordinate and manage activities with other staff;
- Ability to demonstrate adaptability and flexibility;
- Ability to establish effective working relationships;
- Ability to conduct research and analysis and prepare summary documents;
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to travel
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00

The Office of Broadband uses strategies, planning, studies, and partnerships of various programs around the state and available within the Department of Economic Opportunity’s (DEO) Division of Community Development (DCD) to energize economic growth and create jobs for families in Florida. This includes providing education and information to local leaders, local, regional, and state organizations, business leaders and others, to encourage communication and collaboration among our partners, state and federal agencies and the private sector.
