Your Specific Responsibilities:

Lead in the review and analysis of data for the Telehealth Minority Maternity Care Program (TMMC Program) and maternal and child health in addition to other health related data and information that impact policy and program development, including the compilation of related data-based and informed reports, fact sheets, white papers, databases, dashboards, and other products in a timely and accurate manner for distribution to internal and external customers, as needed and/or requested.

 

Perform research, data analysis, and evaluation using various statistical and data managing software packages, such as SPSS, SAS, Stata, R, SQL, and MS Access to collect and analyze data pertaining to the TMMC Program, maternal and child health, and other Bureau of Family Health Services programs and projects, as well as other health related issues. This includes maintaining knowledge of relevant data sets and availability, data tools/software and trends.

 

Initiate and carry out statistical analysis, including formative and summative evaluations along with other health related data and activities, in addition to providing an ongoing assessment of data capacity and quality related to linkages, access, and use of key and relevant data sets.

 

Provide research and statistical analysis support, training, and technical assistance to programs within the Bureau of Family Health Services, including interpreting data and communicating the same to Bureau and Division of Community Health Promotion staff, local Departments of Health, and external partners.

 

Conduct epidemiologic research.

 

This position ensures that all affiliated responsibilities are carried out in an efficient and effective manner and performs other related duties as required.

 

This position reports to the Program Administrator.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of research methods for compiling, organizing and analyzing data; skill using a variety of statistical and data management software packages; ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials; ability to conduct fact-finding research; ability to analyze and interpret data and to explain same to in-house staff, staffing the local DOHs and other external partners in a manner that is clear and understandable to non-experts; ability to utilize problem-solving techniques; ability to design and conduct training programs; skill in presenting information in a clear and understandable manner; ability to work with minimal direction and oversight; ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; and the ability to communicate well with others and convey information effectively, both verbally and in writing, as indicated by the needs of the audience.

 

Qualifications:

Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or related field.

At least 2 years of professional experience conducting and evaluating epidemiologic studies. At least 2 years of experience creating and maintaining databases, performing data analysis and visualization and scientific report writing. At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Excel and Stata, SAS, or SPSS. Emergency Duty - Incumbent may be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. The incumbent may have access to records containing social security numbers in the performance of job duties.
