POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Manager I within the Firearm Eligibility bureau (FEB), this position is responsible for the review and advanced analysis of criminal history records to determine eligibility for the purchase and possession of firearms as authorized by Florida Statute and Federal law. This position is also responsible for training members, conducting critical reviews of research cases for discrepancies, and quality control of transaction evaluations. The incumbent must meet and maintain National Crime Information Center/Florida Crime Information Center (NCIC/FCIC) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Preparing and updating written reports, charts, letters, memoranda, procedural manuals, and other documentation in accordance with Department/other guidelines;
  • Completing task analysis and workflow documentation with the goal to resolve programmatic, administrative, and operational issues;
  • Acting as one of the lead reviewers for the Eligibility Research Unit (ERU) workflow and coordinating various daily work volumes, adjusting by monitoring the status to maximize efficiency and productivity;
  • Answering customer service high-priority emails to provide assistance to citizens in a professional, courteous, and calm manner at all times;
  • Assisting the Firearm Purchase Program (FPP) with processing firearm transactions when needed;
  • Coordinating the ERU member training;
  • Providing on-going quality assurance to identify potential problems and recommending alternative resolutions related to the use of systems;
  • Researching, analyzing, developing, and delivering instructional methods and techniques to support the training of departmental activities to the criminal justice community, Firearm Eligibility Bureau members, and the general public; and
  • Working with peers, Department official and their staff to coordinate departmental entities’ collective project activities and achievements of expected results.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory provisions relating to the analysis of specific documents and records;
  • Knowledge of operating microcomputers and the different available software programs;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow, and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices;
  • Ability to conduct fact finding research;
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

BASE SALARY:

  • $52,530.14

 

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
