This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Programs and Re-entry.

This GOC III supports the Office of Programs and Re-Entry staff, providing administrative assistance to the Director and managers, requiring knowledge of office management, department policies, and fiscal management. This trusted position handles confidential information related to personnel, purchasing, policy, operations, audits, and budget matters, and manages sensitive employee records with strict security controls. Additionally, the incumbent serves as the main communication point for the Director, coordinating with divisions and stakeholders, and ensuring proper routing of all communications and data.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES: 

  • Trusted Administrative Support: Assist the Director of Programs and Re-Entry with personnel, purchasing, policy, operations, audits, and budget matters, handling confidential and sensitive information with utmost security.
  • Main Communication Point: Serve as the primary communication liaison for the Director, coordinating professionally with other divisions and external stakeholders to ensure proper routing of all communications and data.
  • Project and Fiscal Management: Support daily office activities, monitor projects, manage deadlines, and assist with programmatic, budgetary, and organizational issues, ensuring the office website is current and functional.
  • Comprehensive Administrative Tasks: Manage the Director's calendar, prepare correspondence, arrange travel plans, process travel vouchers, and assist with budget reconciliations, keeping the Director informed of upcoming commitments.
  • Collaborative and Proactive: Promote collaboration among staff, follow up on action items and projects, coordinate staff meetings, and maintain organized records and files, ensuring timely completion of all responsibilities.
  • Confidental HR Functions : Ensure compliance with employment policies, procedures, and state statutes; assist with personnel actions and maintain personnel records, including position descriptions, performance evaluations, and employee information; facilitate employee separations and new hires; and serve as timekeeper and PAR Liaison.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must possess one (1) year of experience of Human Resources related duties.
  • Must possess one (1) year of experience of Administrative Duties.
  • Knowledge of the Department of Corrections and Program and Re-entry.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
