WORKING TITLE: GRAPHIC DESIGNER

This internal/open state/open competitive advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Office of Communications.

The mission of the Office of Communications in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide clear, accurate, and timely information to the public, media, and stakeholders.

This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Designs and prepares graphics for the Department’s social media, brochures, reports, booklets, and pamphlets; arranges content in the most effective manner for presentation.
  • Takes photographs and videos of department action, including live and stil scenes, portraits, reports, exhibits, exhibits, publications, social media, etc.
  • Assist in photographic and process involved in the reproduction of graphic material.
  • Develops formatting and graphic elements for internal communications and educational material for Department staff to ensure effective communication with the public.
  • Communicates with team members about layout and design.
  • Upholds and maintains a system for tracking progress on projects to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Assists in the development of plans, presentations, studies, and reports.
  • Coordinates with the Department web team.

  • Preforms other related duties as assigned by the Director of Communications

You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and other graphic design programs.
  • Must have two (2) years of experience in multimedia design.
    • Postsecondary education may substitute on a year for year basis for the required experience.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
