ADVERTISING TITLE: GRAPHICS CONSULTANT

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office, in the Office of the Secretary.

The purpose of this position is to support the communications and recruitment teams by coordinating digital content, graphic design, and project logistics to ensure effective, cohesive messaging between the department and the public.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assists the Department’s social media channels, to include Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
  • Coordinates the graphic design needs for the Office’s recruitment efforts and takes the creative lead on working with vendors for external advertising.
  • Develops formatting and graphic elements for internal communications and educational material for Department staff to ensure effective communication with the public.
  • Schedules meetings, workshops, conference calls, and discussions to review issues and programs.
  • Assists in the development of plans, presentations, studies and reports, such as FDC’s Annual Report.
  • Maintains a system for tracking progress on projects to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Assists in other duties as assigned to support the communications team.

REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
    • Must possess knowledge of recognized industry-wide Web development techniques and software/programs.
    • Must possess knowledge of graphical design techniques and software/programs.
    • Must possess knowledge of File Transfer Protocol (FTP) software/program.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
