ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

 

The Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office is Florida’s award-winning, state-funded child advocacy organization that provides independent legal representation to abused, abandoned and neglected children in Florida’s dependency court proceedings. The Office upholds the highest standards of integrity, excellence and child-centered representation.  Guardian ad Litem Regional Mentor Coordinators will facilitate volunteer mentor recruitment and training, community outreach activities and data collection and management, on behalf of the Guardian ad Litem Office in collaboration with the Office’s recruitment teams in the assigned region.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 

The Regional Mentor Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Director of Recruitment in developing and implementing the strategic plan for the recruitment and retention of guardian ad litem volunteers, pro bono GAL/AAL attorneys and mentors. This position works under the supervision of the Director Recruitment. 

 

ABOUT THE WORK

 

This is a highly results-oriented, independent position responsible for implementing volunteer mentor recruitment and training initiatives, along with data management and mentor support coordination.  The Regional Mentor Coordinator will facilitate volunteer mentor training and community outreach activities on behalf of the Guardian ad Litem Office in collaboration with the Office’s recruitment teams.  Some examples of a “typical” working day may include the following:

 

  • This position will facilitate outreach activities in collaboration with the Office of Volunteer Recruitment and circuit volunteer recruiters under the direction of the Director of Recruitment.  
  • Will assist in the development and implementation of the Statewide Mentor recruitment plan in collaboration with the Volunteer Recruitment Team. 
  • Will assist in the recruitment of mentors, guardian ad litem volunteers and pro bono attorneys. 
  • Will assist in the development and implementation of mentor and volunteer training. 
  • This position will be responsible for tracking mentor data in compliance with Office policy on a monthly basis.  
  • This position will provide required mentor data reports to the Director of Recruitment. 
  • Will be responsible for maintaining the mentor impact data and stories. Weekly entries are required.  
  • Serves as the statewide circuit mentor support coordinator for assigned areas. 
  • Will assist with connecting mentors with resources to assist the mentees with identified needs such as HOPE Florida, Office of Continuing Care, the Care Portal, etc.  
  • Will follow all communication policies.  This position will collaborate with the Communications Director to employ various communication and marketing strategies to deliver effective recruiting and educational programs.

ABOUT THE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

The following are education and experience requirements for prospective Regional Mentor Coordinator position candidates:

 

  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in marketing, business, psychology, or communications
  • Two years of relevant experience in direct sales/marketing or non-profit, community outreach programs involving volunteer recruiting and management.
