POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is located in the Office of the Inspector General. This position is required to perform independent decision making with limited supervision. The incumbent will be responsible for the business and financial operations of the Office of General Counsel. The incumbent will also be responsible for collection and dissemination of records responsive to civil litigation discovery requests where FDLE is a party to the action. This includes analyzing the discovery request and making decisions as to which FDLE records are responsive the discovery request. Once the records are identified review and, if necessary, redact the records in accordance with Florida law.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Directing, planning, organizing, and participating in general business and accounting activities, including receiving and remitting monies to the Office of Financial Management for public records requests and for Chapter 943 research and statistical requests for Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS);
- Assisting in preparation of monthly financial reports;
- Maintaining records for equipment and license procurements which include designing and implementing a tangible personal property inventory system, monitoring property inventory, and inspecting equipment;
- Interpreting and ensuring departmental compliance with statutory requirements and agency policies and procedures;
- Managing renewals and payment for memberships and annual dues for the Office of General Counsel (Bar dues, CALEA, CFA, IIA and AIG);
- Researching and making recommendations for major purchases, i.e. WestLaw publications and various legal resources;
- Developing, and auditing business procedures;
- Managing the P-card and approves purchases in MyFloridaMarketPlace; and
- Providing consultative and administrative support to the General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsels, and the Assistant General Counsels, and Public Records section management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position;
- Knowledge of management principles and practices;
- Knowledge of business functional areas such as purchasing, accounting, budgeting or personnel;
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication;
- Ability to manage the business functions of an agency;
- Ability to communicate effectively;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
- Ability to assess budgetary needs; and
- Ability to formulate policies and procedures.
BASE SALARY:
- $ 52,530.14
NOTES:
Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
