Duties and Responsibilities

This position oversees daily operational activities related to administration of the International Registration Plan (IRP) and the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) programs.  The primary responsibilities are managing the IRP and IFTA Examining and Support Unit (Call Center) by supervising and reviewing the activities of subordinates; overseeing the motor carrier customer service telephone line; overseeing the field support telephone line; and overseeing records management for IRP/IFTA documents.  Additional duties include maintaining current and efficient IRP/IFTA procedures; assisting with the training, technical support, and oversight of IRP private license plate agencies; and staying apprised of all state, federal, and international provisions pertaining to IRP, IFTA, and associated programs.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of rules, procedures, and policies related to IRP, IFTA, and state and federal regulation of commercial motor vehicles. 
  • Knowledge of the principles of management and supervision.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices related to revenue collection.
  • Skill in the use of the Florida Real-time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS).
  • Skill in detecting and analyzing inaccuracies and miscalculations.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will also be given to applicants who have experience:

  • A post high school education.
  • Supervisory and/or team lead role experience.
  • Customer service within a professional office setting.

  • Experience with either the IRP or IFTA programs; or with examining and processing documents and/or tax forms.
  • Making eligibility determinations involving research, application of criteria, and collecting/interpreting data.
  • Preparing written documents such as correspondence, procedures, and manuals.
  • Organizing workflow and prioritizing tasks of employees.

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.  Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
