Duties and Responsibilities

This position oversees daily operational activities related to administration of the International Registration Plan (IRP) and the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) programs. The primary responsibilities are managing the IRP and IFTA Kirkman Walk-in Office by supervising and reviewing the activities of subordinates; overseeing face to face motor carrier customer service at the walk-in counter; and overseeing IRP/IFTA e-file transactions. Additional duties include maintaining current and efficient IRP/ IFTA procedures; assisting with the training, technical support, and oversight of IRP private license plate agencies; and staying apprised of all state, federal, and international provisions pertaining to IRP, IFTA, and associated programs.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • Knowledge of rules, procedures, and policies related to IRP, IFTA, and state and federal regulation of commercial motor vehicles.
  • Knowledge of the principles of management and supervision.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices related to revenue collection.
  • Skill in the use of the Florida Real-time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS ).
  • Skill in detecting and analyzing inaccuracies and miscalculations.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in the following:

  • Experience in a supervisory and/or team lead role.
  • Experience in customer service within a professional office setting.
  • Experience with either the IRP or IFTA programs; or with examining and processing documents and/or tax forms.

 

Preference will also be given to applicants who have experience:

  • Making eligibility determinations involving research, application of criteria, and collecting and interpreting data.
  • Collecting and interpreting data/statistical information.
  • Preparing written documents, e.g., correspondence, procedures, manuals.
  • Organizing workflow/prioritizing tasks of employees.
  • Preference will also be given to applicants with a post high school education.

 

Job Related Requirements

  • On occasion, the incumbent may be called upon to work additional hours and/or supervise staff performing overtime duties, based on the cyclical work peaks of the bureau.

 

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
