Duties and Responsibilities
This position oversees daily operational activities including administering and managing the International Registration Plan (IRP) and the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA). The Section Supervisor is responsible for the success of the staff. Supervisors will observe and evaluate procedures, oversee staff and encouraging excellence in customer service with accurate and efficient work being completed. The incumbent will stay apprised of all state, federal and international provisions relating to IRP, IFTA and associated programs; seek current technology opportunities and room for improvement with processes and procedures to keep CVDS operating efficiently with room for growth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of rules, procedures, and policies related to IRP, IFTA, and state and federal regulation of commercial motor vehicles.
- Knowledge of the principles of management and supervision.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices related to revenue collection.
- Skill in the use of the Florida Real-time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS).
- Skill in detecting and analyzing inaccuracies and miscalculations.
- Skill in using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work customers, both internal and external, in a professional, tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with others.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- Experience in leading and mentoring staff.
- Office-based customer service experience.
- Knowledge of IRP/IFTA programs.
- Ability to examine and process documents.
- Knowledge in collecting and interpreting data/statistical information.
- Experience with eligibility determinations involving research, application of criteria, and collecting/interpreting data.
- Professional experience creating written documents, e.g., correspondence, procedures, manuals, etc.
- Proven skills organizing workflow and prioritizing tasks for employees.
Note:
- Preference will also be given to applicants with formal education following high school graduation.
Job Related Requirements
- On occasion, the incumbent may be called upon to work additional hours and/or supervise staff performing overtime duties, based on the cylical work peaks of the Bureau.

- FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
