Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is assigned to the Benefits section.  Work is performed under general guidelines and independent action is required in dealing directly with line staff, supervisors, managers, division directors and personnel liaisons.  The incumbent is responsible for maintaining current knowledge and providing technical assistance to all levels of supervisors, managers, and staff on the Florida Statutes, personnel rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and collective bargaining. Performs human resource functions in accordance with Section 447.203, Florida Statutes.

 

Providing assistance and counsel to employees relating to state group insurance, retirement and other benefits-related subjects in accordance with relevant laws, rules and procedures. Performing all activities relating to these functions, such as certifying retirement documents, processing contribution adjustments and invoices; performing premium administration activities relating to insurance, including initiating payment of contributions and refunds to employees; and delivering program training presentations for employees. Providing technical assistance to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Microsoft applications software

Knowledge of State of Florida Personnel Rules and applicable Florida Statutes

Knowledge of the People First system

Ability to interpret, apply and communicate applicable human resource management statutes, rules, policies, and procedures

Knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis

Knowledge of one or more personnel program functions such as classification and pay, insurance and benefits, recruitment and selection, labor relations, employee/employer relations or training

Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally

Ability to utilize a computer

Ability to coordinate work assignments, as well as projects and activities, with strong attention to detail

Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data relating to human resource management program functions

Ability to prepare reports relating to human resource management program functions

 

Qualifications:

At least one year of experience working with the People First system in an HR capacity.
