Requirements:
Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint-based) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 1 year of work experience in Florida State Personnel System Human Resources.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- Human Resources experience related to Workers' Compensation
- Human Resources experience related to Attendance and Leave in the SPS
- Human Resources experience related to SPS Insurance Benefits
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The incumbent is directly responsible for administering Attendance and Leave, Workers Compensation and Pre-tax Benefits for the agency. A high degree of accuracy and confidentiality is essential in the position, along with the knowledge of personnel rules, policies and procedures, and federal labor laws.
Responsibilities for Leave and Attendance:
Responsible for completing tasks within FAC 60L-34, and FMLA, reviewing pertinent documentation, communicating with employees and managers on timesheet issues, and providing applicable technical assistance. Acts as Agency Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) coordinator. Notifies employees of their rights and responsibilities under FMLA. Coordinates, leave and payroll issues that may arise out of absences.
Responsibilities for Workers' Compensation:
Assist with activities in regard to workers’ compensation (WC) claims for employees within prescribed time frame. Consult with management and the injured employee on work status, compliance with functional limitations, alternate duty, and notification of temporary adjustment of duties. Assist supervisor and/or employee with completing time sheet and ensuring appropriate salary after review and analysis of Risk Management payment history.
Responsibilities for Benefits:
Responsible for activities in regard to pre-tax insurance benefits, reviewing pertinent documentation, communicating with employees, supervisors, People First and DSGI, and providing applicable technical assistance. Resolves any benefit problems and benefits complaints that may arise with an employee, People First or various insurance companies. Responsible for the submittance of insurance premium underpayments and refunds.
Performs other related duties as required.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge of human resources practices, policies, and procedures.

- Knowledge of Administrative Code 60L
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques and make independent decisions.
- Ability to effectively provide guidance to employees.
- Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data relating to human resources functions.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relative to the FL Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the State of Florida.
- Ability to deliver effective and efficient customer service.
- Ability to work independently
Additional Requirements
Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (ET) Monday through Friday, not Telework eligible.

Responsible for following the provisions and requirements in Section 215.422, Florida Statutes, related to the Department of Financial Services rules and FWC’s invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.
