This open competitive advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at THE Central Office in the Office of Human Resources.
The mission of the Human Resources Specialist is to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and compliance in the management of officer employment records. We are dedicated to supporting our team and institutions by providing expert guidance on certification rules and procedures, maintaining comprehensive and precise reports, and utilizing advanced technology to streamline processes. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Monitors and maintains comprehensive reports on all officers hired during each bi-weekly pay period, ensuring accurate entry of employee information into ATMS. Assists team members in completing the employment registration process through ATMS.
- Acts as the Team Lead and backup to the Compliance Supervisor, overseeing auxiliary officer entries in ATMS, notarizing necessary documents, approving PARs in People First, and performing other supervisory duties.
- Ensures ATMS regulations and certifications for eligible candidates are completed in compliance with established procedures, and that all required documentation is obtained.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for the Compliance Unit, evaluating, interpreting, and implementing certification rules and procedures related to FDLE applications. Provides institutions and recruitment staff with up-to-date information on all changes.
- Assists with various tasks related to employment records in ATMS, including separations, certifications, legal name changes, education updates, and conducting weekly audits of workflows to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Utilizes various computer programs used by Human Resources, including but not limited to People First, Staff Look-up, SharePoint, Internet, HRTS, ATMS, PATS, and various word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Two years' experience in one or more of the Human Resources areas, such as Personnel, Recruitment, Payroll, Leave and Attendance, Classification and Pay, or Employee Benefits; or other professional office experience preparing and auditing applications, legal documents, and similar correspondence.
- Education can substitute for the required experience at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year
- Experience analyzing and researching information from multiple documents and various sources to prepare an official document.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
