General Summary
The Graphics Coordinator is an integral part of the Florida House of Representatives’ creative team. Under the supervision of the Clerk of the House, the Graphics Coordinator is charged with brainstorming concepts and developing collateral and communication tools that align with our visual brand to support the House’s internal and external needs. In addition to providing hands-on graphic design, the Graphics Coordinator directs the Graphics Design Assistant. In this fast-paced role, it is necessary that the person who holds this position be creative, highly organized, and detail-oriented and demonstrates self-initiative.
The Graphics Coordinator is responsible for creating print, display and digital materials that align with the House’s brand. Standard assignments include creating publications, brochures, flyers, logos, infographics, display panels, and welcome/event posters. It is typical to have multiple assignments with competing deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and effectively communicate with others as part of a team
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and establish responsible deadlines and personal work plans
- Superior graphic skills and strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite 5, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
- Experience in office software, including Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Word).
- Prepress production knowledge and experience working with printers
- Experience with creating and packaging files to appear on the web
- Organization skills and strong attention to detail
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, New Media Design or a related field. Professional experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
A minimum of four years’ experience in the graphic design field with a strong portfolio of work and a record of excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will go to job applicants with a demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the position as evident via a portfolio (printed or digital) with examples of prior, similar work. The ideal applicant will have expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud programs including Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. Job applicants should possess outside-of-the-box critical thinking, a desire to be innovative and a natural inclination to bring ideas to the table, the talent to tell a story through design, and the ability to work as part of a team and receive constructive feedback.
Salary
Salary commensurate with experience.
